I believe it started on the 6th. One of the best things they've done in a long time.

I agree that it should keep sellers from gouging on shipping.

Didn't ebay also raise their fees in general?

ebay is again changing there fee structure on July 6th for fixed price listings and store auction-style listings. Here is the link: http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinforma...ate2011.html

I know this is a dead topic, but I hate the fact they changed this. ebay is basically forcing honest sellers to raise their shipping prices. Between ebay and paypal fees totaling around 10%, why do I have to take the loss? I normally charge around $3.00 shipping for 4-5 oz items ($2.09-$2.32 for shipping, a piece of bubblewrap, and a 50 cent bubblemailer) So should I be raising my shipping price to $3.35-$3.50 to make up the difference?

If you raise your shipping price then your FVF would go up accordingly therefore escalating out of control. I will also add I seen sellers charge a low price on an item but charge an insane amount for shipping for the purpose of fee avoidance.

the FVF and the paypal fees both go up...but like I said together you're normally around 10%...so if shipping actually costs $3.00 I need to raise it to $3.35 to keep me from losing money on shipping.

If fifty cents makes a noticeable impact on my margin I need to start selling something else, or get a heckuva lot better at selling what I'm currently offering.

50 cents over the 3000+ packages we ship every year? Yeah it's a noticeable impact.

No, still not really. If your averaging almost 10 sales a day all year long and 1500 bucks is a major issue, like Dave said, you're using ebay wrong.

This ebay move is one of the very few in recent years that will actually clean up some crap. Kudos to ebay, I will gladly pay a little more in fees to clean the place up some.

Depends on how you look at the forest, I guess. Yeah, $1500 is a noticeable chunk of money. But honestly, meaning no offense, if 50 cents per sale makes a difference you can feel, you should be reconsidering the viability of your business model. Margins should not be that tight.

If I'm shipping 3000 packages per year, I'm grossing no less than $150k and pocketing (net-net, aside taxes) at least $40k. If not, I'm selling something else, because it's too much work for too little return.
