I bought one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...280688931645

and here's another currently listed:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Russian-USSR-CC...370518741781

I thought I got an exceptional deal until I saw a bunch more get listed under spot price of the claimed metal composition. Now that I'm trying to research it, I'm coming up with nothing on it.

So my question is, what the heck is this and is it worth what he claims or do I need to file a claim and get my money back? Or should I buy all I can get my hands on at this price?

Thanks in advance!

First of all, I can't say anything certain about your coin beacuse I've never personally heard of it before. What I can tell you is that the first legal tender palladium coin minted in Russia was in 1988, and your coin appears to be from 1983. Another thing is that the USSR govt. would never have put Stalin on a coin after the mid 1950s, so therefore I highly doubt it's an offical govt. issue coin.

Despite this, its bullion content can still be real. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge can chime in. Good luck!

What vb3347 makes sense to me too. I hope the Russian collectors can add their viewpoints. This particular coin doesn't look like a genuine Russian issue to my eyes.
Compared to the design and execution of official coins, it looks more like a western interpretation of a Stalinist coin, almost like Soviet-style souvenir.

Sorry, not to be a downer.

Thanks for the input. I'm not so much interested in any numismatic value as I bought it for it's bullion value, plus I thought it was neat looking. I have some strange interest in soviet-era art and architecture. Don't know why. Anyway, since I can't find any official information on it, any suggestions on how I can validate the PM content? According to the description, it's quite the mixture of palladium, platinum, silver, etc.

Any opinions on if I should keep it or try to get a refund?

The only two coins with Stalin's profile are 1949 Czechoslovakia 50 and 100 krones!
Stalin appears though on 3 other coins minted in Russia since 1995 as a member on int'l Conferences.

How did you test it? What's the actual percentages of the composition?
