Edit:

I just now noticed the "Variety and Errors" message board. I'll move the topic there. My apologies for the noob mistake.

semvhu,

The only newb mistake would be not to join in on the fun. ALL others are overlooked. Even after all these years, we all can still look like newbies. I know that I feel that way each time I speak with Q. David Bowers. Not that he treats me like a newbie, but he is truly THE expert in this field.

Cisco--were you joking?

Mr Bower is one of the greatest minds in the coin collecting world--he has many books and such.

ND the next time you talk to the Numismatical Writing Dude could you ask him what the Q. stands for. I suppose it's Quentin or Quincy, how many names start with a Q? But it's something I was always curious about.

I believe this was the first local coin club that Dave Bowers belonged to:

I have heard what the Q. stands for many times, but cannot recall it off the top of my head now. Anyways, what many do not know, Mr. Bowers has written other historical books not related to coins. Check out the full list of his writings.

He's always been into the automatic musical instruments. At one time he was a partner in an automatic musical instruments museum in Germany. What a lot of people don't know about him is that he's really big into counterstamped large cents and has been since he was teenager. I wish he'd write a comprehensive book about them.

He's a living Icon--our very own Jerry Garcia. I wonder if he does ink drawings like Jerry did.

That "old man" part really hurts, especially when I was thinking of Dave as a youngster. Guess I lost track of:1999-Georgia-Quarter-With-Errors

Hello Folks!
I wonder how David Bowers would react to being compared to Jerry Garcia ! LOL We could call his followers "Dead President Heads" instead of "Dead Heads" and camp out "in" Convention Center Motels instead of on the grass outside. Longnine009 you may have started a movement here! Next, maybe we'll see a "Dead Presidents Heads" sticker on a Cadillac ! Just think, "Rainbow Toned Coins" instead of "tie dyes", coin accessories instead of paraphernalia, carefully "holding on to a dime" instead of "dropping a dime". Following David from show to show in a caravan of SUV's! Mike... Peace, Love and....Old coins forever!
