Hi Danlos, I don't like the look of those two coins. They have that grainy look consistent with Chinese counterfeits. Ironically the seller is classified as a Power Seller with an incredible +rating as well as an amazing +Seller's Rating (almost a Five star right across the board!) I don't know what to tell you, perhaps maybe take my Mama's advice,"if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!". Glenn

Mass Sinophobia at its best They may be counterfeit, probably not,its hard to tell from the pics, but Quote: They have that grainy look consistent with Chinese counterfeits Most Chinese counterfeits are not grainy Quote: uniform tone + porous surface + minimal or no wear These are not markers for Chinese counterfeits either

Markers for Chinese counterfeit 25 and 50 cents are well known. By what markers do you determine these to be fakes. If you want to avoid such coins, first learn how to recognize them. If you're unsure about a coin, don't bid on it. If you're unsure and want opinions don't start with "beware" To call a seller's integrity into question because a coin looks grainy or porous to you is ? Sinophobia

I realize that some collectors are quick to cry 'wolf', but I think overall, it is a good thing that collectors are cautious with respect to the most commonly counterfeited coins. We now can use all the resources available to help make a decision with key dates. Our hobby has evolved because of Chinese counterfeits, but it should not turn into a witch hunt.

I've dealt with the seller in question before. He was excellent. Great attention to shipping and communication. He does have some terrific deals from time to time. Overall, when buying raw Canadian coins on ebay I much prefer American sellers.

Auctions over.....but I mean if you cant trust someone with over 10k plus acutions and almost all of them coins with close to 100% positive feedback, then I really dont know who you can trust.
