Here's an 1863 IHC for grading. I just picked it up from a local coin shop. I have a pretty good idea of what it is, but want to run it by you guys too.

I'd say XF to AU, but what's with all the faint letters, in each word, on the obverse? Strikethru?

I think it was Struck Through Grease or something like that, it's not that uncommon to see it on IHCs. I do think this coin has a weak strike, particularly on the headband after "Liberty" and on the last two feathers by the top of the neck. Detail is really lacking, but to me, it doesn't appear to be wear. I'm not saying there is no wear, this coin is definitely not MS, but these CuNi IHCs are notorious for weak strikes.

Maybe a late die state with the die breaks on the reverse around the shield.

Are those die breaks around the date between the 1 and 8, and the top of the three?
