I'm not familiar with coin collection. I came cross a quarter and would like to find out what is it? If it worth anything?
The quarter has one bump on each side of the coin. One on the head, and another is on the right wing. The coin surface seems very dark.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

to CCF. My first thought is that it was heated, maybe in a house fire or something. The bubbles are trapped gas.IMHO,

This coin has been heated to a high temperature which caused an internal separation of the clad layers.

Looks as if the eagle hit George in the head with his wing. That's one nasty head injury!.

I'm with biokemist on this one. Looks like heat caused the bubbles and dark color. The localization on the obverse looks like it may have been done with a torch. They may have been trying to soften the metal of the coin to make a ring.

I also have a 1973 with bumps not in the same spot as yours on the other side. I have seen another posting on here about this. Any information is appreciated.

It is heat damage as mentioned several times in this post. It's just a damaged coin.
