can someone please tell me what the mark on the right side of the obverse is?

also, why is there so much disparity in prices for off center error of same year that seem same condition? this is my first error buy and I see others out there cheaper and others much more. much

only diff. seems to be condition and it seems minor.

thx

I am not sure about that mark, but the main price adjustment for these errors references the date being cut-off. This coin would have nice value, but if the coin was offset the other way (part of the liberty is gone, with full date) it would be of less value.

edit: apparently I had it wrong, full date more value that partial date?

Don't know about the mark but price for these is usually more if a full date is visible.

That mark appears to the a split in the copper plating which exposed the zinc core. The copper plating was stretched out because of the planchet expanding outward with no restraint during striking. The presence of a date and mintmark add to the value of OC errors and excessive zinc exposure can lower the value(the zinc will easily corrode if not protected).

If he means the "mark" in front of the face, I would agree it looks like spitting of the copper plating. On the reverse if you mean the "mark" below the NE C, that was left by the top surface of the collar.
