From what I can see that looks like the real deal! But I'm no expert, and I don't have one myself.
You can see at the top of the D were the S is beneath it-I think.

That's a tough call on something that hasn't been discovered..might want to send to an attributer. Although I see something,it may just be a D/D rpm.

The older publication I have doesn't mention this one. But it looks very promising to me from the images. Now to find an expert in nickels that may have a lisitng?

Scooby, THANKS, I needed that.
As to attribution, the 2009 printing of the Cherrypicker's Guide mentions it on page 314. In hand, mine looks almost just like it. I will try to get some better pics. My stone age photo equipment is having a tough time. Maybe I will try goig black and white or sepia to see if it helps.

Can not say anything for sure with the photos ... polite suggestion to seal006 is that many fuzzy photos do not make up for 1 great, in-focus shot. Quote: That's a tough call on something that hasn't been discovered There is a rumor of this 1954 D/S OMM actually existing ... My 5th edition of Cherrypickers shows a possible coin on page 314 ... they preface the listing with unconfirmed and the coin they show is not clearly what I see in the OP post ... need much better shots of the MM to even offer an opinion. Until better photos show up ... my opinion is this is an unidentified OMM ... D over D ... something going on there for sure ... David
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

OMM is a term used for a mint mark over a different mint mark.IE: D/S. A RPM is a Mint mark over the same mint mark. IE D/D. The fourth & sixth images from the top made me look closer of the original post. The others are less interesting/not necessary except to prove there isn't much going on with this coin.

Here's a real one. Look the same to me. Circa Sept 1981. Know of Three others besides the one in this forum. Very scarce. jb

I don't know, I have a 1954 S over D and the S is quite a bit bigger than the D, and thicker in the middle than the article above; Time to recheck my 1954 Jefferson's.

Did you ever find anything out about this. I found a 54 with a D over a very clear S and was wondering if I had something worth something! Please let me know thank you

Rob: you might want to start a new thread instead of hi-jacking a different one. But on your coin, it looks like it suffered a bit of grease in the mint mark area. Note how the device look wider and flat on the top. That is how you can tell if it was a struck through error or a damaged mint mark. (The image is a little small, so I guessing on it not having contact on the mint mark.) A larger image might help more of the mint mark area.
