After seriously losing count of the number of boxes I've searched in the last two years, I have finally found the elusive 1999 Wide AM cent. Its not perfect, it has two nasty spots of discoloration on the obverse. But I'm not the least bit concerned with that. I finally have one. And my Wide AM collection is now complete. My total tally of Wide AM varieties is now: 8 - 1998 1 - 1999 2 - 2000 I will post photos later this evening if the community demands them.

Nice job! I'm no expert on WAMs, but isn't there a 1996? The RedBook says so at least. That would mean you haven't completed the collection-but you got the hardest one out of the way!

Oh my, that 1996 WAM hoax didn't make it into the Red Book did it? At least I was alway under the impression that the coin that was the 1996 WAM with die rotation turned out to be a hoax. I don't recall the exact story, but I do recall that some fishy business was involved with that coin. Perhaps others here know more about it.

Pics on the way this evening. I'll be home in about 4 hours and will post the pics shortly after.
An interesting note about finding this coin. Those of us that search boxes knows that excitement of opening up a fresh box and the anticipation of what might be found. In this instance, it was the very last roll of the box that yeilded this coin. Usually once I get to those last 5 rolls I've mostly lost hope of finding anything outside of copper. Finding this coin in the last roll will likely be one of my great roll searching moments ever.

Finding that coin alone will probably be one of your greatest roll moments! So, IS there a 1996 WAM?

Big Congrats! It's great to hear for those of us that started searching recently that it's still possible to get in on a great find like that.

UPDATE: As everyone now knows. I found my first 1999 WAM this morning. Good luck strikes once. Had a blowout on the way home. So I just made it back a little while ago. Bad luck stikes once. Fortunately some folks came along and lent me a whole tire and rim on good faith alone. I will be bending over backwards in gratatude to them. Good luck strikes twice. Just discovered the camera is dead. Battery on the charger. Bad luck strikes twice. I really want to share photos of this coin with everyone but it looks like it will be tomorrow before the camera will be up and going.
