that's industrious! If I were him, I never would have participated in the news story... wouldn't want everyone else horning in on my claim!

A couple of years ago I read about a guy who would go out to intersections (stop lights) where cars would idle for long periods. It seems that cataytic converters emit a tiny amount of platinum that goes out the tailpipe and right into the pavement. This guy would just scrape up all the oil, fluids and debris found at stop lights, and filter it for platinum.

He worked at night (obviously), and according to the article - made decent money doing it!

Wow thanks Hock very interesting stuff there. Next obvious question would be, could any of us go out in our streets of our inner cities and find these gems and metals? I imagine it would have to be a larger city like NY, but who knows there may be 100's of grams of unknown metals in downtown Knoxville, or perhaps even the small town I live in....

Specksnyder I agree, but I think a human may explode, if they figure out something very clever and go long enough without ever sharing it as to get credit for their genius....

He has been doing it since 1984, so that need to share has been brewing for years....

Reminds me of the movie "Paint Your Wagaon".

That's pretty amazing... especially in a place where people have been killed for their shoes or jackets.
