Alright, I have a rather n00b question I'm a little embarrassed to have to ask.

When they say "High R5", does that mean on the higher end of population for R5 or almost R6?

In this example, R5 is rare, 30 - 70 examples. So is High R5 closer to 68 known or 32 known?

Higher than R5 is R6. But higher than 30 is 70. But then, lower than R5 is R6 at the same time?

Thanks... =)

Alright, maybe I shouldn't feel like a knucklehead asking as nobody else knows the answer... I'll keep digging. =)

Okay, I know it probably seems like I didn't have to search long, but I actually just stumbled across this after looking for something completely different.

Sometimes it's not that we don't know, it's just that we don't get here in a timely fashion. I haven't been here since noon on the 24th or I could have helped you. But it looks like you found the information just fine.

Just keep working at it. Believe it or not it isn't that hard to get R-4 or even R-5 coins. R-6 and higher is tougher.

lol - yeah Conder. You mean you're not all waiting here at my beck and call!?!?! OUTRAGEOUS. ;)

In retrospect, since it really concerns classic coins I probably should have posted there. I thought (when I was posting) it was more suitable for the general forum. =)

I actually picked up an R6 Fugio last year without even knowing it. Attribution over ebay pictures is tricky - especially in the grades I tend to afford! - but it's a fun challenge. On the other side, I picked up what I thought was a 1796 NC2 in fair for over $100 and got burned as it turned out to be a rather common variety. Then again, I picked up a 1798 missing the 8 that turned out to be an S-149 (R5+) for about $30! It's a fun game. =) I've learned a LOT from it.
