UK 1950 Farthing Made Of Steel?

I have a 1950 farthing that looks like it's made of steel or another dull white metal. Krause says they all were made of bronze. The coin itself is definitely not fake. Could it be an off-metal strike?

I would guess a plating of some type. the face of George looks like he is peeling maybe

Looks like it's been plated.

If it's steel, it will be magnetic.
