I've got several rolls of these via the direct ship program and they appear to all be 2011-P. Does anyone get 2011-D? Is it just a "you get what you get" or is a bi-coastal thing like regular circulating coins, or does it depend on the time of year or what?

Also, do the Dansco albums for these and the Presidential dollars have slots for both types (orientation of edge lettering)? If not, I guess I'll probably "roll my own" with blank pages.

It's a "you get what you get" thing. And I seriously doubt if Dansco has an album that has holes for the position A and Position B varieties.

Dansco only has the "with proofs" and "w/o proofs" sacagawea/NA albums.
I don't think the edge lettering position is anything special, it is randomly done I believe, and really doesn't command any extra attention by most people.

Yeah, the edge lettering thing is random, my rolls seem to be a 50/50 random mix. I figured I'd collect both because I'm OCD that way, and four coins per year is not a huge burden.

I also feel that the edge lettering orientation is insignificant. As a Dansco album user, I am inclined to feel that the mint mark is insignificant as well, as it cannot be viewed once it is in the album.

I have still not purchased a Dansco album for the golden dollars (Sacagawea, Presidential, or Native American). I am tempted to get a date-only album to fill with the proofs I have accumulated from the annual sets. I have less than ten total golden dollars from circulation.

The albums do not show ANY edge lettering, they're not "raised" to showcase this feature of the coins, like some of the U.S. Mint packaging is. And likewise, there are no "slots" differentiating this either.
But, as most have said, it's fairly "insignificant" to most collectors anyway.
And Heck !, with the naked eye, it's really hard to decipher what it says on the edge lettering anyway !
In trying to identify a "P" or a "D" one time, I felt as if it was like trying to count how many hairs on a flea's behind ! .....

As you know JB, that's what I did for the Presidential dollars. Mine is a blue Whitman date only album (nice), and awhile back I converted it to a "Proof only" Presidential album.....and it just REALLY looks nice !
Whatever all the naysayer folks say about these "Golden Tokens"......they make a nice Proof album !
Though I continue to make some "BU" folders for Nephew's, daughters, etc., I'll be keeping this Proof Whitman for myself ! ...

And my Dansco for the Sac's and N.A. dollars is complete & up to date with Unciruclated and Proofs (P, D, & S).....it's also very sweeeeeet lookin' ! .... ... And I believe that my Dansco for these ends next year, or it might have even been this year, I can't remember now, but I'll have to be ordering "extra pages" for this album sometime ! ....

All of my proof dollars still look great, while many of the ones taken from circulation have started to "turn" on me. I feel that these coins do not handle the circulation (as light as it may have been) as well as a Cu-Ni coin. The slightest bit of grit, grime, or finger grease seems to do a lot of damage.

Getting P vs D from direct ship is pretty hit or miss. I've had a bit of luck ordering after they've been taken down then put back up. Last year they had P native Americans at the beginning of the year and D at the end. I'll try for that again this year. Hopefully if anyone gets D's they will post about it.
