I originally started out by collecting the ASEs. Now I've decided to get back into them and am picking up a Dansco album to place them in.

My 1st question - I was just looking at my RedBook and noticed that some of my Eagles, while obviously uncirculated and not proof, do not have the "W" mint mark. However, the RedBook shows the uncirculated ones from 2000 on with the "W" in parenthesis. I am guessing that this just indicates they were minted at West Point, but do not actually carry the mint mark. Is this correct, or am I missing something?

2nd question - do most of you buy albums like danscos for circulated/uncirculated coins, or does everyone buy the 8000 series for proofs as well.

Thanks in advance,
Tim

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I do not think the uncirculated bullion ASE carry any mint mark. Proof ASE carry the W mint mark.

The US Mint is releasing a 2006 Bullion ASE that carries the "W" mint mark, specifically for collectors.

I am not an ASE person but I think if it has " no mint mark" it is minted in Philadelphia (same as all other series of coins). Most coins that are minted at Westpoint are Proof coins, that's about all they do there is Proof and Gold coins, the 2006 Uncirculated is a special exception for the 20th anniversary of the ASE but as a rule of thumb the Westpoint mint only does special minted coins like the Proof coins

the only other Unc ASE with the W mint mark was in the 10th year Anv set. and it is very pricey now.But I do beleave bryan is correct about being mint in Phillie. I might be wrong this is off the top of my head I don't have any book in front of me.

Also for your other qustion I have my ASE set in a Dansco Album I think they look great in there. I would not buy the proof book I think you are best off leaving them in the mint boxes.

My ASE's are in a Dansco album. They look very nice. My proof ASE's remain in the mint box.

Below are the mints. Parentheses mean the mark is not on the coin.
