This is a beautiful coin I got in a lot of silver dimes I just purchased today. I don't see any problems with it at all. I just wonder is it even worth the trouble (and cost) to send out for grading if it's not that rare.

Any opinions on grade?

Mike

Very hard to tell grade because of luster not showing up with the lighting of this picture. At least EF details. Not worth sending in though even if it's a low MS coin.

I see wear on the hair (tho I might be wrong), which would make it AU. I agree with rachums107.

I wasn't sure what the going rate for slow service with grading now. Drdave, I see the wear you are talking about and I think I jumped the gun when I said MS.

Yea that will look real nice in a book, but there looks to be a few too many hairlines that could be covered up by the lighting? Not positive, but still a solid example. Very close to FSB too! That might have made it worth slabbing.

It's a great looking coin , but I run into the exact same problem with mercs - Great luster, great condition but just not worth slabbing unless they're a key date.
