Hi All;

Just wondering if the following is a fake holder, my opinion is that it must be because the font is unusual and the coin doesn't look great from the view they've used - however, I had a second thought it could be an old holder/font.

Thanks!

Astralia? Someone must have spaced over at PCGS--or there's a darker explanation.

Honestly, I'm a little dubious over that "MS66" grade. While impossible to confirm from those pics, threepences from 1910 often have strike issues, and I doubt PCGS would be aware of that; they would strike down the grade.

So...the misspelling and the grade add up a red flag to me.
This could be crossposted in the Aussie forums for input.

It is most likely a real slab. It is my PCGS 4 which was used from Jan 1990 to mid 1995. I have never seen or heard of a counterfeit of this generation of PCGS slab. So far I only know of four generations of counterfeit PCGS slabs PCGS 1X the rattler slab. PCGS 18X Used from 2006 to date. PCGS 15X which mules the front label of PCGS 13/15 used from 2002 to late 2005 with the reverse hologram of PCGS 18 used from late 2006 to date. And PCGS G(enuine)1.

I would be very suspect on the grade though. Back then PCGS was just beginning to dabble in foreign coins and they were not looked upon as being very good with them.
Rest in Peace

I would think they could spell oz, but then again, I've seen wrong denoms, mm and dates.

Don't they have a page where you can look up numbers?

Yes, and the cert matches the coin. Not that I'd believe PCGS' grade of an Aussie coin.
