Another excellent coin and one of my favorites ... I enjoy the simple but elegant design.
Interesting that at the time the famous coin designer James Earl Fraser (designer of the Buffalo nickel, obverse of the Oregon Trail Half and many other coins) did not like the design, calling it 'inexperienced and amateurish". Since Fraser was officially representing the Commission of Fine Arts his criticism carried a lot of political weight.
Fortunately for us today, Fraser's criticism was overruled and the design by Carmel, CA artist Joseph Mora became reality.
Net distribution of 86,594 coins. Often found with a silky luster in MS condition.
My example has similar spotting as yours. For grading comparison here is my PCGS MS65 California:
