I've been silver hunting dime rolls with almost no luck, until today. I met a guy in line at a Coinstar dumping a coffee can of coins. Needless to say, the reject tray was full of silver after he got finished. I told him I'd pay him for them, and gave him a dime roll I had. I scored over two dozen 90% Roosevelts!

People find all kinds of great stuff in coinstar reject trays. I always check when I go by one (best things I've found were a bicentennial Ike and a 2 Euro coin).

I will post photos soon. I paid him with a clad dime roll I was going to dump. He gave me a whole handful of reject dimes, and only 2 were clad. $5 for over 2 ounces!

It was 28 Roosevelts in all. A couple of key dates like 1950S, but that was badly worn. Some of the 1964D's still have cartwheel luster, but brown stains. Some others are deeply scratched and just good for melt.

I checked the same machine yesterday and it had one 90% dime. I thought I was lucky then! This just floored me. I bought 5 or 6 rolls last week and had only gotten one 1964 dime. I weighed them up, and it's just over 70 grams!

I've only been silver hunting for a week or so. I went to three Coinstars yesterday and only found one '46 dime. Today, I saw the old steel coffee can he had, and knew I was in luck.

I told him not to dump the rejects again, because I collect them and would give him cash for them. He asked how much they were worth. I said a buck or so each. Of course, that's just the numismatic value...
