Hambone Pillar of the Community United States 609 Posts	Posted 07/03/2011 3:36 pm Well I was just going through my collection and came across my well worn 1897 Barber quarter. I got it when I first started collecting coins (About 6 years ago). It was labeled "Damaged" so I got it for like two dollars. I know yall are probly wondering why I bought it, well I cant remember Here it is: I came to the conclusion that it was smashed together with some other coin using a vise, I just didnt know which one. I compared the size of the lines to a nickel, perfect fit. I can read "We Trust" backwards on the barber. So here is the "UST" at 30x magnification. Here is a pic of my Shield nickel at 30x magnification. So thats what I found out today. I wonder who did this and where the Shield nickel is...
