I got the oldesst coin I have in my collection today. It is a 1787 New Jersey Copper with and outlined shield. I got a really great score on this. Does anyone else have or have seen this type of coin?

No I have not, but would like to see it. The oldest coin I have is a 1794 head of 94 cent. Its realy rough but I only paid $5 for it raw.

yankee1227,
It's a New Jersey Plow Copper. There are many Maris varieties. A picture of yours would be very helpful in determining what variety you have.

Post a pic if you are able. Many of these have some sort of issue after 224 years. Corrosion would be perhaps the most common problem not to be confused with planchet abnormalities or flaws.
