I got this in a metal detector lot. It has been 6 months in olive oil (it was covered in god knows what).
I can make out the busts of William and Mary easily.
The date eludes me looks like 168?.
Any ideas?

For William-and-Mary coppers, you've really only got two options: a halfpenny (about 29mm) and a farthing (about 23mm). For both denominations the only possible date for solid copper coins is 1694; all earlier dates for this reign are either solid tin or tin-brass bimetallics.

Thanks Sap.
It must be a 1694 halfpenny then.
I had it in olive oil for about 6 months, it was totally unreadable before.
I have put a handful of old roman coins in some oil now.
I will have to be patient and wait and see what they are
