This coin shows very strong WE and great details over most of the coin, but not on the IN GOD and TRUST on the ribbon. What would cause this? Has anyone seen this before?

How would you grade the piece? The 2 has a raised line all the way around the number as if the die was cut deeper into the die at the edge and shows no wear, as do many of the letters.

Would you have this coin graded?

Is the WE on a more raised portion of the coin?

Very much so. It's always the first thing to wear away.

So, would that then mean a weak strike on the top half of the coin? The bottom reverse appears to be sharply struck... Except for the last A in America. Is this a weak strike issue or some other type of problem?

I don't have much to add except that it is a beautiful piece!

Looks like that area of the die may have been clogged a little.

Thanks for the complements!

It has a large broken area of the reverse die from the A in AMERICA through the top of the are that I think would be a Retained Cud, with a small die break between the E and R. It has several die cracks near the last A crossing the ribbon at the bottom, but it's hard to see in this shot. The ridge around the top edge of the 2 shows no wear, so I think it's an uncirculated coin, but I'm not possitive.

I saw this when it was too late to edit, but the post above should read... "It has a large broken area of the reverse die from the A in AMERICA through the top of the R that I think would be a Retained Cud, with a small die break between the E and R."

Sorry, It was getting late and I was in a hurry. Instead of using the letter "R" I spelled it out as "are." My brain starts to shut down at about 11:00 PM, so anything I post after that may be a little on the strange side.

I do agree that IN GOD and TRUST looks to have been filled with gunk.

I may try to have this graded this weekend. We're having a coin show and ANACS will be there. As I've never submitted a coin before, so can someone give me tips on how to do this? Should I ask for an error attribution on the broken reverse die? Would it be a XX% Retained Cud with a small interior die break? I looked at the attribution on a few coins listed on HA.com and came up an attribution like this. OH! One last question, is there a minimum number of coins that you have to submit?

Sorry about all the questions, but I'm excited about the show and I REALLY want to get at least this coin graded.

Definitely a strike issue the "We" will always wear before the "In God", "Trust".

Coin seems very high grade I think you will be happy with how it gets slabbed!

I could agree with a possible grease filled portion of the die.
