Aus Post is now reviewing (read that as increasing) charges quarterly instead of half yearly.
Second increase in a row for small parcels, registered post and insurance!
Thankfully, not another increase in international rates. Australia is already much higher than other countries. It is instructive to go to another country post site and compare the costs for sending the same parcel both ways.
For example 454g (1 pound) parcel; USPS First class US$11.39 [priority mail US $28.75] and Aus. Post to US, regular air mail $17.25 [express post $63.50].
USPS also offers slightly cheaper rates for paying for postage on-line.
US$1.00=AU$1.07
Then again, I did read recently that USPS is losing toward $1,000,000,000 per year. I have not heard that Australia Post is losing money but senior executives are often quoted in the media saying that Aus. Post can't make ends meet unless charges can be increased.
