Guess I'll keep my order as is and hope that 10 years from now I'm right on the value of this one coin.
OldDan, you were so off on you prediction by 9 years and 10 months You right Berry, I just read that old thread of "canceling orders." Its amazing how fast sentiments changes. I myself purchased 2 in Sept. and have 8 more on backorder now. Hopefully they arrive.

Shipping of the American Eagle Anniversary Coin Sets is expected to begin mid-October, 2006, and take 10 - 12 weeks to complete.Note: The American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coin will also be available as an individual option beginning September 28, 2006. This coin will be minted to demand. So these will be available as long as there is a demand for them it looks like.

but his was shipped on 10/28 and didn't arrive at his house until 11/22 so thats along time at the Post Office. The Uncirculated with the W mint mark will be available for awhile but the 20th anniversary sets is the thing thats sold out and the Reverse proof is the KEY coin in the set and well worth the $100.00 buy price just to have that one coin

I suppose with quality control at the mint being so low on proof coins it is a wonder how they would of stayed in buisness if they were a public traded company. I unfortunately early on in buying U S Mint Slab Coins I bought proof coins only to have some (should say most) with flaws etc. I suppose I should of sent them back ASAP after opening. It seems The U S Mint Slabbed Proof coins which should be ms70 are hit or miss to get many ! It is the U S Mint are the first to actually glove touch and sorta grade the coins and decide if they should go into a proof slab or not..
Does the U S Mint need to hire a pack of ANAS hand picked top grading company graders for the job? I believe it would be better than what the mint uses now.
I quit buying large sums of slab proof coins from the U S Mint because of poor quality is to scattered in among all coins sold in U S Mint slabs. From the coins themselves to the cases with scratches etc. I know I am not buying the case but the coin! Though the case in these circumstances it does matter to have both the coin and case a perfect 70.
I believe the U S Mint should label the slabs as they are Almost Proof Sets.

I ended up with 10 sets that are all in great shape. This will make X'mas shopping easy this year as I can use these as presents. I hope those receiving them appreciate them for what they represent, and not just for their value.

I must say, the 20th anniversary eagles was a tremedous success for the mint. And that's all of them, I am surprise the 2 coin set sold out since you can get both coins in the other sets.
I think the big thing was the TPG companies policy for certifying as 20th anniversary and ebay...
Take a look at this auction! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...83&rd=1&rd=1$2,300 for the gold and silver set. Wow, what a markup! I think you're right with respect to the TPG's and the special 20th Anniversary labels. That will make them more valuable I think. Just like the 3 coin gold set, how many people really knew up front not to open the box in order to get the entire set graded as a 20th Anniversary set. Same thing on these I bet.

If my backordered set comes, I'll be opening it immediately. I couldn't care less about a slab, let alone a label inside of a slab.

If my backordered sets come in, I am going to let TPG (again) be the first to open it and see my coins. I will get only 2 sets graded and hang on to 2 raw set. Because I really would like to hold the reverse proof in my hand outside of the plastic, just to stare at it. I have seen pictures, but I want to hold it in my hand. Really just want to hold in my hands raw for curiousity and to just look it for a few miutes.
