Hi, this is my first post...forgive me, but I skipped right by the Introductions because I was lucky enough to find this forum which I didn't know existed until now.

Back when I was a kid, I was heavily into trading my coins with friends. One day my cousin and I were comparing coins and he offered me what appeared to be a counterfeit Canadian dime (circa 1985). It was much smaller than a normal dime but still has the Bluenose on the reverse and the Queen on the obverse. It's been encased in a plastic coin holder for more than 25 years and it's rated in poor condition. Tell me, am I legally at risk, for possession of counterfeit money? Seems like kind of a stupid question but it's all harmless trading and I don't know where he got it from.

Also, when I worked in retail many years ago, I broke open a roll of quarters, and in this role there were 4 blank 25 cent planchets, in circulated condition. What are they worth? Again, when I found them, I took them home and put them in plastic coin holders and put them away.

I collect rare error coins - I have clipped pennies, bent dimes, EF frosted nickels, and lots of double-punched coins but alas, none of these have ever brought me any fortune other than sentimental value.

Thanks for any info.

Welcome!

Yes, please post pics.

As for your miniature dime, there were several companies that produced novelty coins that were smaller than normal. Your's may or may not be one of these and if the condition is poor it would be hard to tell anyway.

Just as an aside, I've found a number of blank quarter planchets recently, some that came out of 2010 bank rolls.
