All of the uncirculated gold Buffalos I have received in mint packaging or slabbed have a wire rim which is way more pronounced than the 1907 St. Gaudens High Relief wire rim. The proof versions I have all have a flat rim. The pressure of the press coupled with the softness of the gold is the most likely reason for the planchet squeezing past the collar and forming a very deep and pronounced wire rim. I would imagine this wire rim would be considered a minting defect. Does anyone out there have or have they seen the uncirculated version without this rim? Thank you, sparky
