IS anyone collecting US Mint Silver Proof sets? I think they are nice and was thinking about picking up the 2005 set on the Mints website. How come they do not have 2006 yet? And how long has the mint been minting them for?

BTW, I just ordered 2 of the 2006 uncirculated ASE with the "W" Mint mark.

Hey Ranger,
I just ordered and received the 05 and the 06 silver proof sets from the mint. They're georgeous.

My sets include the other denominations as well, cent-nickel-dime, etc.

I've gotten one of every year since 1992. I think they're a beautiful way to collect the current coinage coming out of our Mint. Plus, I love the fact that I can drive up to the Denver Mint (about 30+ minutes away) and the staff is very kind and accomodating when allowing me to choose a premium quality set from what they have in stock.

Hi Ranger, I do, have all of them, and the regular proof sets as well, from 1950 on...I've gone that route insteaad of maintaining separate collections of each individual denomination of business strikes for these later years..
As Prethen noted, the sets make for an impressive display, especially if you have an album specifically made to hold them, such as the Eagle brand which I use. This allows for a very compact storage solution, as well, ranging from a bookshelf to a safe.

Happy collecting!
