How far off do you think I would be in grading this one EF-45?
If your opinion differs from mine, I'd appreciate your pointing out how you reached your decision.
This is similar to going to school. When I grade my own coins, it's like homework, but, when I post here on the forum in order to get opinions from more knowledgable collectors, it's like being in the classroom, acquiring an education from the professor who is always more knowing than the student.
Thanks.

Ralph

You have to factor expected strike quality into grading Morgans, since that's all over the map depending on year and mint. I expect this one to be strongly struck, but 45 is probably right. I don't know if you're working on it, but you've got a good start on an EF Circulation Set.

No Dave, I haven't zeroed in on any specific grade yet. I'm still like a kid with a new toy. But, you're right, I do have a good start on the EF grade - 12 in that grade so far. 'Course, my Morgans are (to quote you) "all over the place" when it comes to grade. Got 85 of 'em, and they'll grade anywhere from Ag-3 th MS-63 - all points in between.
Thanks for your opinion on this Morgan - I'm still learning my grading skills, and each one I post here, and get responses is a learning experience for me.

Looks like considerable wear on the breast and some note-able marks on the obverse. I would grade at EF-40
