Hi there again, thanks so much for viewing my previous post. I was asked for verification as to whether or not the five cent coins come from the same die. Well :) After giving my old digital a great workout, and two sets of batteries later, this is the best the camera (and 'eye') could do... Photo one is a normal coin; photo two is showing the dimple at the base of the neck, with a line projecting from the 'P' towards the rim; Photo three is the mid-life of the die break, same projection of the 'P'; Photo four is the latest version of the break. The line from the 'P' is somewhat difficult to see. These markings are the only consistent ones I could find on the coins shown previously. The surface marks seem to be more severe during the progression. I hope this is of interest, and thanks again for your time!

Please forgive any out of focus images...

The deterioration of the "P" also looks like it might be the same on all of them. Sort of knobby at the bottom of the vertical stroke. The last picture is awesome! ~ JFK ~

Perhaps I'm reaching a bit with the repetitive mark from the P towards the rim. As mentioned previously, it's the only consistent die mark I could find. My fourth example is not posted, but it has the complete metal deposit with the P line.

Either everyone has one of these or it's very rare. That covers the whole spectrum. A title for this error could be "Modified Shoulder Fold"?

Thanks for viewing!

I think it's an amazing find staircase
Of all the millions of nickels out there, what are the odds that a progression like this would come to one collector outside of original rolls?
Hope that more show up

I can't argue your point there! I've only dealt with circulated coins and finding one that grades at the MS level is most difficult.

Thanks DBM for your encouraging comment. I won't stop hunting!
