OK so I post a few coins in the grading section. After a day or two I post the NGC label to let everyone know what NGC graded the coin as.
I go offshore and am out of Internet land for a few days.
When I get a connection back I find that the NCG registry has transferred ownership of the coin to someone else after they sent an ownership transfer request that I apparently did not respond to in time.
Its no big deal really as I don't really list most of my coins in the registry but it kind of makes me mad that NGC automatically processed the request.

I wonder how many people have had their coins transferred after loosing interest in the registry and not visiting it..

What exactly does that mean, anyway? Does NGC ask if this is your coin, and you don't answer, they 'tranfer' what? The slot, or standing in their registry for that type, like best of show?

The coin was listed as part of my 2 Cent registry set.

Its was transferred from my registry to another therefore increasing their standing in the registry and at the same time decreasing mine...

That in itself does not bother me much other than the most improved registries over a year get some freebies...
What bugs me is that it seems all I have to do is send a transfer request to NGC and if the owner of the coin does not respond in a day or two the coin will be transferred to my registry set. Kind of make a mockery of the whole system. Makes you wonder if these high grading sets are really in the possession of the registry owner or if they just trolled for certificate numbers to make there sets look good and reap all the accolades...

Not some one I recognized but some one who's collections are ranked pretty high I searched their name.

I only opened a registry set on a whim a couple of years ago. I just entered half a dozen random coins. I liked the valuation function. So I just put a bunch of coins in general inventory to track the market.

I would contact collectors society and let them know, they will probably have you take pictures or something to prove you still have the coin if he denies it to be transfered back. Do you think he purchased a fake one with your cert number on it?

Not sure but its a strange coincidence that the transfer request happened less than 24hrs after I posted the picture of the cert.
I have had a response from NGC and they will transfer back on Monday

yeah I didn't know it was that soon after you posted the cert number, I guess I am one of those people that try to find the good in everyone and just thought since you posted the cert number (not knowing when that was) that maybe someone had copied the number and placed it in a fake slab/coin combination
