have you ever seen this error and if so can you lead me to info about it? error is pretty obvious and extends from the arrow ends to almost the rim. thank you.

It looks like rim damage from another coin. The reeding from a 2nd coin could have caused the damage. Can you take a detailed photo of the area? If you want to test my theory, place the edge of another Kennedy half VERY CAREFULLY in the area in question and see if the reeding matches the lines.

Please let us know what you find and if you can get a close up of the area.

Yokozuna, your theory did make sense to me but the error line is too straight and to jagged to be the edge of another coin. maybe perhaps a reeding machine mishap? I suppose it could be something laying on the dye. I've tried to take closer photos but they are not clear at all. :(

It doesn't really look like damage. It's probably struck through something, but I can't be sure without better photo. Try placing a magnfying glass in front of your camera.

Possibly struck through a fin broken off another coin.
