And some people have no brains. I can't believe anybody would bid on an obvious common copy.

Well if he says he's unsure if the coin is a replica or not and has a couple accurate pictures of HIS coin for sale, I say let people bid.

Aww, come on. That's not obvious casting - it's just a little environmental damage that only affected the flat surfaces.

Well, the seller covered himself stating he's not sure if it's real or not. BTW, colorful BS story.
Now, YES, it's an obvious fake and the winning bidder will figure that out sooner or later. I find it so sad when newbies don't know any better...they think they do :(

I saw one of these brought into the shop I work at a few weeks ago. The people that brought it in were disappointed that it was counterfeit. People are trying to cash in on anything they think might have value. I blame it on the economy etc.

Its an obvious casting and even the one who did it is not very skillful he most probably placed short sprue former and that's why he got all these casting (solidification) porosity in the coin field
Rest in Peace

One of the coin mags had an article about a guy that is making reproductions and that is one that they showed. The reverse is a Ben Franklin design borrowed from continental currency that he designed.
