Sort of, die-cast Godaikin robots, lol. I had been trying to move my entire collection for $2100 and couldn't draw a bid. So I broke it up, and stand to make 2700 plus, if they all draw a bid. I had my auctions running for about two hours, and sold one for $300 and another for $505 on buy it now, so $805 is gonna convert nicely into some gold and silver....

Here is another one of my auctions that won't last long. Amazing the money thrown at these collector toys, some vintage some brand new....

http://cgi.ebay.com/Yamato-plated-D...em23125dfc42

The one thing I like about coins and bullion compared to the vintage toys, less bulk. Even though I have did well on the vintage collectibles, as I had $550 total in the two pieces that sold. Even though one is very rare and sought after, the one that sold for $505....

I am gonna pay off my only card with (500 dollar limit lol), and save that for hard time winter, and even keep some more dying dollars just for same reason. Need to do a bit of truck maintenance as well, but when the smoke clears I should be able to put at least a grand into gold and silver, if not more.....

So, what are some ideas, I am sitting on 70 oz. of silver and 26 grams of gold....

Three 10 oz. Engelhard 10 oz. bars in the plastic like Ed likes seems like a good start, and a nice gold coin to push over an oz.....

Bars take up less space...however, smaller denominated 'junk' silver coins are more liquid.

Either way, you are being smart with your profits from the other stuff!

I would be looking at a 1/2 or 1/4 ounce gold eagle or Canadian Maple and with the remainder, some silver grizzlies.

Thanks guys, all good ideas....

Yeah quarter oz. gold Eagle seems like a no brainer, and I have not gotten a Maple Leaf yet. I am also high on the Phil Harmonics price and look, and the 1986 5 dollar Liberty gold coins which are almost a quarter oz. sells for real close to spot as well....

I have two half sovs, and those are my largest to date. Hard to argue with gold the way it is climbing right now. I am tempted to bid now before it blows past 1600....

Wow, another sold for 300, so 1105 on 3 auctions. I am glad no one bid at 2100, I would have taken a big lose, as I still have 80% of my inventory left....

The thing about these collectibles that is a problem, is box wear and storage. But I will say they are as sought after as gold and silver these days, and will only increase in value in time as well, but I would rather have my money in G and S coins, easier to hide. I don't know if a thief would have known what they had, but if they broke in they would not have been hard to find, and that worried me....

This set below is real rare, and I even repaired the robot's horn with some good glue, yellow paint, and a cut piece from a yellow flashlight, cut and shaped into a horn, lol. Clearly stated and listed in picture, as is rough box shape and missing some missiles, yet they line up to buy these, go figure and instant payment....

Same guy above from Cali buys two more auctions for $125 total, so 1230 total and counting....

This calls for a super rare quad banana dance....

Nice timing on the robot market. I can understand your attraction to vintage toys. I have a bunch of vintage boxed Corgi cars. I owned all of them as a kid (Goldfinger James Bond, Batmobile, Green Hornet, Man From Uncle, etc.) Good long term investments as your robots are proving to be. Gold and silver are more fun as the market goes up, down is not so fun.
Rest in Peace

I'm with mkman! Get yourself a nice quarter ounce or half eagle. Or even a half ounce. You can get something recognizable, for much less premium than the smaller gold coins. Of course, I'm a bit biased. ;-)

Best of luck silverhawk - I also agree with other coin community members. Reward yourself with a relatively fat gold piece (a 1/2 oz'er) and hold onto it for life! Good luck on the sale!

Gold, silver, whatever.

Junior E, that green hornet car "black beauty" complete brings big money as well, 4 to 5 hundred, and I am sure the others are valuable as well....

Yes I have sold 7 robots in half a day, and a Cobra rattler (A-10 warthog) and a Hiss tank for right at $1650 total so far. If I knew they were gonna generate such interest, I would have sold them months back....

Congratulation on your sells.

So far, most people recommended GOLD and I agreed. However for the type of gold coins, many people overlooked the First Spouse 1/2 oz pure fold coin (99.99% gold). The first 4 coins has a very high mintage and selling just a little over spot. If you are considering hard time then what's better than pure gold? It's the same as gold bar but in a coin form.... so you enjoy the coin design and if needed can easily sell to any coin shop for spot or even a little over if there's high demand for pure gold).

Hawk, since you are focusing on invest in PM (PM coins) then you should get coins that has low premium (US/Foreign modern commemorative gold/silver) or 90% gold & silver in low grade (some Peace dollar can be had for close to spot). Just my thought.

I'd say good call in selling the vintage toys if you're not much into it anymore, there always market for every type of collectibles.

I also would suggest buying semi key or key date coins to bring up your investment, you may get less volume, but a greater return toward the future.

Way to go, Hawk! You are an arbitrageur! This is no different from those guys who buy companies for X dollars, break them up, and sell the pieces for 2-3X. Very well done, indeed.

As to what to buy with the money you get from the robot collection... wow, the choices there are almost endless. It's unlikely that you will make a bad choice because there are just so many excellent things that you can buy. Yes, I like the 10-oz. plastic encased silver bars a lot. I don't have any yet but I will have some one of these days. The money IS in hand and can be used at any time. All I would like now is some sort of pull-back on the price. If I don't get that, then I might buy a few bars anyway but not a large number all at once.

I know that you like gold, so how about a few of those 10g bars that APMEX sells? They look pretty sweet and so do the 20g bars.
