Something interesting that I picked up from a shopping-mall-flea-market-dealer, for the princely sum of $5. At first glance it appears like a normal, 1964 cent with a clip, toned a bit, probably MS-63 grade. But, look again, look closer..

Is it not clip right through or is that dark part a shadow?

Clip is completely though. I photographed the coin on a dark surface, after I placed it in a 2x2 flip,

There are three possibilities. One, there may be an extra marking on the lower stem of the branch, although it could be post mint damage. Secondly, there may be a die crack that runs from the lower left of the branch up towards the 4 and runs between the 4 and the branch. And thirdly, there is the extra branch beside the upper bud. I have one of these pennies with the extra branch by the upper bud. Those are my quesses. What's the prize?

Thanks! Finding an extra spine in mint state is hard enough, getting one struck on a clipped planchet is pretty cool.

Did you verify the Blakesley's effect on the clip? I am sure you did but I can not tell from the picture that is posted. Nice extra spine.

Nice find! I wonder what kind of premium you would expect to get for having a variety with an error.
