Can someone explain to me why the US Mint is charging $14.00 more for the 2011 100 quarter bags ($49.95) than they are for the 2010 100 quarters bags ($35.95)? These are not silver quarters, so why the mark-up?

I checked my records and in 2006 I ordered the 100 count Quarter Bags at $ 35.50 each and the shipping price per order was $ 4.95.
I've noticed the increase and have held off buying bags of coins since then. I did order the 2009 Lincoln Cent in Mint Rolls, mainly hopeing to find some errors.

I used to order these bags and most of them are worth less than I paid for them.

I'm really trying to stick with the program but their giving me every reason to quit. Theirs no reason that these should of have'd such a mark up. Their production numbers are all way up their aren't they? The only thing I can think of is people aren't buying so they hurt the ones who are. I'll finish out this year just to have full two year sets, but if the price stays the same. I say to heck with it. Right now I'm getting a bag of P & D and a box of two roll sets. Its ridiculous Thats pretty much 12Silver eagles a year. I'd rather have something in silver for that price. I probably wont make the end of the year. I really wanted to sell sets when all was said and done. But the investment doesn't really look that great. I'm surprised I've made it this long! Thank You US Mint for the knife in the back.

I know what your saying on the 2 full sets. If you feel that way though you should cut your losses now. If you bought 12 silver eagles you know you will still have silver. My biggest problem with these quarters is they are the same ones the bank has. so if you can get on board with a member here you could get them at face plus shipping and they are the exact same coins. I learned a few years ago that just b/c the mint sells it dont mean I have to buy it. Since I have been avidly collecting and selling since 2006 I buy very few products from the mint like I used to. I used to buy the halves the quarters the proof sets mint sets. Now I stick with the basics Silver eagle and I am currently buying the 2010 ATB pucks. The rest in my opinion is overpriced junk. All my proof sets that I paid decent money for in the Statehood Quarter program are selling for next to nothing now. So now I figure if I want them I will buy them second hand. and if there is a year that sells for a lot it equals out b.c the rest sell for nothing

Because they can. They raised the prices on all the bags and roll sets I believe.
