Small coin, approx. 1/2" dia. Lion in circle one side, cross on the other? Text is hard to make out, but appears to be: MARCVS --VINITVS on one side, HIERON-PRIO__ on the other.

Correct.

I believe the small copper denomination struck for Cyprus was called a "carzia".
