Does this piece have what looks like a "solder" line all around the edge?

Not as far as I can tell, just uneven and worn smooth. Definately has a cast look.

this brings up a point on ID of coins . new standard maybe ? edge of coin photos made by mirror on side ?
would help with casts and counterfeits...What does community think ? If I may ask maybe just for suspect coins ?

Not a coin, but a medal of some kind. It's Renaissance in style, doing it's best to try to look like an ancient coin. As you say, it's cast, as the huge cracks across the obverse attest.
