Watch-Your-Nickel-Rolls!
Has anyone noticed that these plastic rolls do not hold 40 nickels? They only hold 39.I've tried forcing the 49th.nickel in.The only way to do it is to tape it shut,if the plastic doesn't split first.
I got a box from the bank with these plastic rolls. They were ALL 1 nickel short in each roll.I guess the manufacturer of these things don't keep up with the changes in coinage thickness.
Sorry for the bad photo ,but I think you know what rolls I'm talking about.
(Note the little snaps will not fully seal)
Has anyone else noticed?
I don't know about other denominations since I mostly get penny & nickel boxes.
I really am curious about any responces. Thanks all.

I have some of these for quarters but I've never counted how many they hold. If I remember I'll check when I get home tonight. I use them to put extra Park quarters in so I never checked the amount.

Thank you.
I don't know about U.S. nickels(not being a boarder town and all)I can't get enough U.S. nickels to fill a roll.
The thing is Canadian(nickel)nickels fit 40 to a roll just fine.It seems to be modern coinage.
As I said I guess these plastic roll manufacturers haven't keep up with the times.
Anyone else?

If you put US coins in the Canadian plastic holds they will come up short by 2 to 4 coins , depends which coin holder you are using. trust me on this I took some to a US bank and the girl said it didn't look right and sure enough they where all short, boy did I feel like a fool.

My US quarters are at 40. I guess these are made for US only. Not collecting Canadian coins I didn't realize they were that far off US coins in thickness.

Just switch to the paper ones, count one roll, and then stack them up against each other to measure. I've caught lots of missing coins right in front of the teller this way and I point it out to them.

Also, watch out for waxed nickels. That's the dirtiest roll scam I've come across. That and foreign coins.
