I received my first 2006 Wolf Silver Dollar from a very nice member of Coin Community Family.

I just ordered several more as gifts. They cost me $10 apiece.

I really like the coin, and am surprised the Canadian Mint doesn't plan to issue them in the future.

Two questions. First, was $10 a good price to pay. Secondly, although I have never "invested" in coins, nor do I plan to, I am curious as to whether or not this coin is likely to go up in value. Any opinions on that possibility?

Thanks for any responses.

Gary: I got mine at the ANA in Denver for $9/piece and yes they were difficult to find (even there). Rumor has it that since it was only a one year issue that they will increase in value...how much, how soon?

I believe $10.00 is a good price,I have bought several at $7-$10 dollars apiece.I have been getting mine at ebay, and have noticed some are available still at $10.00,and others trying to sell them for $30.00.Although,I do hope the value goes alot higher, investment wise.

Gary,

I would say $ 10 is a good price.I've bought mine @ $ 9 cdn last year, but that dealer has them now at $ 11 US.Being that our dollars are so close now,i think you have a good deal.
I had no idea they won't make them anymore.I've bought them only as silver coins.

The Mint claims they were a successful coin at 150,000 struck and sold but they would have liked to see demand at 250,000 to be an overwhelming success. With silver prices moving upwards I think a lot more collectors were thrilled to get an opportunity to purchase silver, even if it was in 1/2 ounce size, due to budget constraints. The Canadian Mint claims collectors WANT a full ounce coin as that has always been the norm but as a collector who, at times is on a limited coin budget, I found the 1/2 ounce affordable and a very pleasing, as well as, eye appealing design and was looking forward to continuing the series. But now that is NOT going to happen so I will live with my one year type coins which I now refer to as my pack of wolves!!!

Ten bucks is a good deal. I just got one last night at my local coin club for 9.00 however. Beautiful coin.
