I have been attempting to buy one of every type of Canadian quarter and/or 20ct piece (well, within financial reason) ... therefore, I have been collecting the "Painted" reverse types as well as the ol' classic beauties from the 1800's ... however, I am now questioning whether I should even bother collecting the newer painted versions and/or the oversized painted quarters etc, or whether I am merely throwing money away for nothing!? => what do ya think?

Hard to say...I like the Victoria quarter varieties and hunting for them is fun. Especially as they haven't been recognized yet by Charlton, or ICCS.

I find modern quarters unappealing, except for the mules and wrong planchets. But that's just me :).

Hey, what about the oversized "Bird Series" quarters? (I think they are actually quite nice ... but the rest of the modern-painted quarters merely look like bad artwork) ... oh well, my OCD makes me buy them, no matter what they look like => if it's a quarter, apparently I'm hard-wired to buy it!?

Province and then Dominion of Canada issues, starting in mid-late 1800's, with Queen Vitoria's bust on the obverse, most likely. She was supplanted by the George's, and honestly her bust visage does NOT show an attactive person, IMO,

LOL ... sorry, of course, my bad => I have numerous quarters with Queen Victoria's obverse ... but because I'd started this discussion by mentioning modern painted quarters, I stupily assumed that danlos9551 was describing a mysterious painted quarter that I knew nothing about! (I'm now embarrassed) ... man, I'm surprised that I didn't ask "ummm, what's a quarter?"

Thanks Tam
