Thanks for your opinion aladinslamp. I shot the coin with just one halogen bulb directly above the top and I used my macro lens.

OK mmorgan22 great morgan; but aren't they all.

I like it much better as AU55/58.

What camera and lens do you use. I'm looking.

Thanks

I'd probably pay AU58 prices on this coin.

I will say AU-53 for this coin. Bit too much wear for a 55.

Las_Vegas_Larry: I'm using a Canon T2I with a Canon 50mm macro lens with a circular polarizing filter. This coin was shot with F/9 @0"8 with 100 ISO.

I agree with the grade and really like the foto. Perfect for grading. That single halogen must put out some candlepower if you were able to keep it to ISO100 at f/9.

It sure does

The LED lights tend to not work for me as I would have to leave the shutter open all day and night for one pic. This halogen bulb works the best for me. I would rather spend more time looking coins then more time waiting for the shutter to close.

Lose the polarizing filter (it's costing you about 1-1/2 stops of light for no improvement), and feel free to bump the ISO as far as 400 for this equipment combination. Heck, 800 is probably OK. That'll get your exposures into human territory.

Thanks for the input SuperDave. I guess you can call me just lazy, I keep the filter on because I use the lens outdoors as well. I guess I should go buy the canon 60mm then .
