Quote:
The term "Almost Uncirculated" is not listed in the standard catalogues, although widely used in price lists. The term really means a good "Extremely Fine," and is frowned on by conservative collectors. It is sometimes called "About Uncirculated," and was in the past designated by that much-abused term "Uncirculated with cabinet friction." Such coins show only the slightest wear on the high spots, generally in the form of the absence of mint lustre.Mint lustre remains on the unworn portions of the coin.
