Hello,
I am hoping that someone can help me identify this coin. I received it from a friend. It was found underwater and is very corroded but looking at it very closely it seems to have arabic writing on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I can get a better image of it I will update.

Ahoy, scurvynate. Welcome to the forum.

It certainly looks Islamic. The middle period of Islamic coins, around the time of the Crusades, hexafoliate patterns like this were quite common. The Ilkhanids, Mongol converts to Islam that ruled over Persia/Iran, particularly come to my mind when I look at this design. See these coins on zeno.ru for some examples. (Zeno.ru is currently running very slow, so apologies if the link doesn't seem to work properly)
