It depends what grade they are,if they are UNC they would be a bargain,if there anything under almost Unc you probably paid a little too much.

I paid $6 for a basic circulated one, and that was a bargain.
I have been seeing these circulated coins go for anything between $15 and $25.
You can watch this one to see what it goes for

I would think that you paid market value for them as a bulk lot, funny thing is you can re sell them singularly and still make a buck on it.

Rennicks and Maccas guides are just that... guides... and they are only published annually while the market is setting the price all the time.
As the market determines the price, as noted in other threads on this forum, the prices of 5c are going up with speculation of a change coming. Like Australian Coin says, watch a few auctions and work out the averages of the market prices for yourself... then if you can get one below you can feel great. if you get one at market price, you can still good. and you will be able to tell when to reign in your bidding if it gets a little crazy...
At the end of the day, if you are a collector, you will pay what you feel is right. If you are an investor/trader, then it is a whole other kettle of fish...

1968 2c is the only other decimal that collectors bid silly amounts for a circulated condition coin
