Good day all. Yesterday I was at a small flea market in San Francisco and I found a pile of these 10 cent coins and inquired as to the price. The seller said they were copies made by the French Mint to circulate in Indochina to replace the existing coinage which was being melted by the local population and they did not contain any silver. I have a total of 28 pieces, 10 are duplicates, with dates ranging from 1901 to 1932. He said he thought it odd that they would strike so many different dates on officially produced counterfeit coins. All of them are uncirculated with the exact same color and mint luster. I haven't found anything online to corroborate his story. Anyone here know anything about these?

After an intensive search online I was able to determine that these are actually Chinese made copies and the story that the seller I bought them from was either misinformed or telling a tall tale. Either way I only paid $5.00 for the 28 of them and I will be able to resell for at least that.

There are quite a few fakes like that on ebay unfortunately. Make sure if you end up selling them that you say they are copies.
