Thailand 1 Baht, What Year Is It? | 1991

I'm just wondering if they use dates on their coinage at all, and if so could you help me locate it? Or do they not punch dates on their coinage? Sap Moderator Australia 16810 Posts	Posted 07/25/2011 9:12 pm The date is the second line on the reverse. The two characters with dots after them are the Thai equivalent of "B.E." - Buddhist Era. The four symbols following it are the BE date, written in Khmer numerals. The date on yours is "2534". Subtract 543 to get the AD date: 1991. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff

For example, 1 baht coins bearing the date "2505" (1962 AD) were struck from 1962 right up to 1982. It's impossible to tell exactly when in that 20-year period a 2505-dated coin was struck, so those coins are effectively "undated". However, since the 1980s, most Thai coins have actual dates on them.
