I found this coin in my penny collection, of all places. I noticed the flaws, particularly on the C D and A of CANADA, but was unable to find any references to similar flaws for this coin. Any ideas?
It was during the WWII years that the Canadian Mint started to chrome plate the dies to extend Die life. In those early years the plating tended to flake off at the edges of letters etc. where there was a sharp transition. It appears that this coin was struck with a die that had Peeled Chrome Plating.
