While weighing my 1983 LMCs I found this. I'm not much into the Lincs but always look out for clashes or other interesting points. I would like to know if I'm calling this right. I know there are alot of Lincoln experts here.

There is a crack or break on the reverse (I think its significant enough to call a break vs a crack but you tell me) at the NW corner of the Memorial travelling West to the rim. The break is also on the top left corner of the Memorial between the 1st and 2nd columns.

There is a clash traveling SE to NW between columns 4-5,3-4 and 2-3. I used a LMC overlay and think there would have to be some rotation for the obverse shoulder to line up in the columns this way.

Am I correct? Again, just checking my interpretation of this.

I didn't notice at first, but the reverse column is clashed onto the obverse vertically at the shoulder, where the shoulder is clashed onto the reverse. Do I have this right also?

Thanks a bunch for whatever you might have to say!

Coop - Do you often see clashes at the same area of the obv to the rev, and rev to the obv? I try to read about clashes in general but don't have much experience or knowledge on them. More so on the Morgans.

Would the crack/break have contributed to the clash, is it rotated? Or just a wore out die?

Yes. The dies are in the same position usually always. Thus the clash marks are transfered in the same areas.

It has never been published that it is the cause. But I have always felt it was the cause. They happen in the same areas because of the pressure during the clashes.
Or just a wore out die?

Thank you Sir!

Since I am not a LMC collector, if it has little to no value except to a variety/clash/LMC, you are more than welcome to the coin. If you want it, PM me your info and I'll mail it out Monday.

Thanks for the offer. I save the extreme when I find them. I have tubes of odd stuff I save in case I need something to take image of for the forums.
