Hi Everyone
Im Having some computer problems that I can't seem to fix,,all of my ability to view pictures with any definition and color is gone. I will be doing a full restore and I will be unavailable for hopefully no more than overnight or less.
If this does not work, I have already purchased a new computer, but I have no way to transfer all of the material in this computer to the other, so I will be starting from scratch either way.

to put all thats on one computer on the other, all you have to do is take the hard drive out of the PCX you have now and add it as a second hard drive to the other one and you can still access all your stuff, only difference is it will be on the D drive instead of the C drive (or what ever letter it asigns it). There are also programs that will transfer stuff from one hard drive to another , usually the maker of the hard drive software will do this

Concentrate on getting the video drivers right with your reinstall. Before you go to the new computer, get in touch with me. As Bryan said, there are options for getting the old programs and settings over to the new computer, and that's in my area of professional expertise. We can explore your options, and get you set up. In fact, before you do the reinstall, check the information here: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcas..._sg_fstw.asp

Being a Computer Science student I will assist in any way I can.
What kind of video card do you have?
If you don't want to do the whole HDD swap, you can copy all your important data to blank CD\DVD and transfer that way. This if second to if you can network the PCs via a router\switch.. Then all you ahve to do is right click on the folder you want to share, and hit "Sharing". Then on the new PC, by going to "My Netowrk places > Work group computers" you will see any shared files/ Windows rots over time so just transferring important data would make sense. Plugging in a drive that has a OS installed already, into the new PC will only makes things messy.

both of my hard drives have a OS on them and its not messy at all, actually the D drive you can't even tell it has a OS on it except it has the folders in it. It acts just like any other hard drive except if you put it as primary drive it will load windows but thats it

At least you seem to know what is wrong and how to fix it, so your ahead of the game in my oppinion. When my puter goes on the blink, if the on-off switch don't work...I know it's broke!

Just don't "copy or tranferr the virus over". There are some ahh, computer viruses, worms etc that once you "hook up the old drive" or anything that was "contaminated" on the old system, once this "bug" senses this new system--It lives on--so, get a good anti-virus S/w I use Mcafee, and check ALL your shXt--be careful excepting stuff from friends and relatives--OR downloading from unknown sites--otherwise, you puter WILL be taken over--Just little advise from a puter PRO--If no defense, you'll be in the same boat with new puter--

Hi Everyone
My options were very limited,, the full restore put my computer back to factory settings like it was supposed to , but I think whatever infected the hard drive was still there,, I have set up the new computer ,, it will take me some time to get used to the new operating system and to restore my data and info that was stored on the old machine, but I'm thankful that most of my coin photos were on the forum !!
Anyway my email is still down I have to get some info from the ISP that I didnt know to set it up. But I will at least be able to check the forum for now.

I would run a current virus update and scan before you transfer any data or hard drives. There is always the download of AVG just one of the free virus protection programs. Just a thought.
