I have loved reading how some people keep track of their roll finds. I have never done this but now that I have finally joined here I think I will give it a small try. I am going to go through 20 boxes of dimes, nickels, pennies, quarters and halves. I am going to write down what I find from each box and when I am done I am going to post my results on this page. It is going to take probably 20 weeks or so, but I think it will be fun to see where I find the most stuff, where I find the stuff with the most value, and where I can rely on finding stuff when I am in a pinch for time during a certain week. Figured I would share this idea with the forum to give you all a heads up and even an idea of something to try for yourselves. Happy hunting!

Good luck, especially on the quarters, I haven't heard ANY good news on those boxes.

Just keep in mind, you might do 20 boxes this week and gets skunks like crazy, and then do 20 boxes the following week and find 1-25-50 silver coins. Don't get discouraged, and enjoy doing it.

Also, don't forget to post pics!!

I'm always curious about how people get a hold of the boxes. Are you ordering them from a bank or getting them somewhere else? I'd love some info on obtaining them. Thanks.

Most banks have cents, nickels, dimes and quarters in stock and will sell them to you no problem if you have an account. Some banks will charge you a fee if you don't have an account. Most banks have to order halves, one bank by me gets them within a week when I order, another takes close to a month to get them in. You can always ask if they have any customer wrapped rolls (CWR).

I picked up 3 rolls of halves (all they had), and 4 rolls each quarters/dimes from my BofA last week. No luck, they seemed picked through already.

Today I asked at another bank I had stopped by and they said they could get boxes of quarters ($500), but no halves. They said, sorry we can't get halves.

Also, they had a coin counter in the lobby, 1% fee to account holders, 10% fee to non-account holders. I think I'll stick with the free Kroger gift card from Coin Star for now.
